Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Did you know there are rescue organizations that save horses from slaughter and there is one here in Fairmount City, Pennsylvania? Mending Hope Equine Rescue is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. Our Mission is to rescue Mustangs from situations that are abusive, dangerous, and neglectful. We also gentle these horses and provide them with additional training and rehabilitation (both behavioral and/or medical), along with educating the public on handling the Mustangs and all equine abuse. We provide a safe place for the horses until a forever home, or a permanent sanctuary can be found. In support of these efforts, the organization seeks to increase the beneficial human and equine relationship through animal and human interaction. My name is Tammy Ganoe. I am the founder and president of Mending Hope Equine Rescue. My sister and I have collaborated to form Horses & Heroes, we are both veterans. Our equine-assisted activities are proven to help fellow veterans with depression, PTSD, and improve self-esteem. We created this program to bring the rescue horses and Veterans together to help each other. We also use some of the rescues to visit our local skilled nursing facilities. We currently have 16 horses at the rescue, of which 12 need to be sent to the trainers. Six of the 12 horses are not gentle or fully gentle, which will require longer training times. Training also benefits the community through our two programs: Horses & Heros, an equine-assisted activities program for veterans, and Healing Hooves, where we take horses to skilled nursing facilities. We are reaching out to our community to help support our rescue so we can continue to save, shelter, rehabilitate, and provide services to our community. Our second annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held on February 23rd from 11 am to 4 pm at the Limestone Fire Hall.
